History

The Blanc Villa is a prestigious historical building of eclectic style built during the last years of 1800 as the home of Baron Alberto Blanc, who will die a few years after the building’s completion.

Located inside a 39.000 m2 park of high environmental and architectural interest, it arises in front of Libya and Iran’s Embassy in Italy. The site is composed by Villa Blanc, the surrounding park, six minor buildings and some greenhouses, and from 1922 it is subject to architectural tutelage and cultural heritage bonds.
From 2017 it is used as part of the University Campus of LUISS Business School, the preparatory school for managers of the Free International University for Social Studies “Guido Carli” (LUISS).
The Blanc Villa is the result of a 1896 restructuring of a preexisting building situated on the vineyard bought on 1848 by Marquis Lorenzo Lezzani, a street builder for the Papal State who built on that ground a “casino of delights”, consisting in 10 rooms, later on expanded by his brother Massimiliano. The entire property was then sold for 75.000 lire in 1893 to the Baron Alberto Blanc, Senator of the Reign of Italy and Foreign Minister under two Crispi Governments, who died in 1904.
